Vacation

We just returned from our annual family vacation.  My parents, my brothers, and our children spend a week at the beach together every year.  We've been doing this for 17 years.  It's so nice to have that to look forward to each year.  Now, the "children" are grown and beginning their own lives.

It makes me realize the importance of family and spending time together as a family.  My parents are in their 80's now.  Like many of us, there are more years behind them than ahead.  All the more reason to treasure each opportunity to spend time together.

We are back in the studio and excited about the summer and fall schedule.  I think you are going to be pleased to see what we have coming up.

"Pure at Heart" is our next studio offer.  It's done with a softness that speaks gentleness and purity.  You select a special Bible verse to include on the image.  We're doing these portrait sessions on Thursday, July 9th and Friday, July 10th.  Call the studio (910-392-4214) to schedule a session for your child(ren).

I'll tell you more later about what we have planned for the Christmas season.

Blessings to you!

Summer is officially here!

I can sure tell that spring is sliding by  and summer is quickly arriving.  Memorial Day has passed.  Graduation has occurred or is within the next few weeks.  Our gardens are blooming.  And, people are calling to have their portraits done.

It's amazing how much starts to happen all at once, it seems.  We're already photographing rising seniors for the Class of 2010.  This year, we will once again offer a complimentary mini beach session for high school seniors that have their portraits photographed at Kenny Barnes Studio.  It's so much fun to meet students that are preparing to step into the next phase of their life - whether college or work.

I know it's hard to think about Christmas now.  But, we are!  And, we are so excited about what we will be offering at Kenny Barnes Studio this year.  Of course, we will have our traditional Christmas set called "Christmas on 41st Street" at the beginning of November.   This year we will also offer a Christmas session at the beach called "Santa, the Sea, and Me".   These beach sessions will be at the beginning of October.  Santa will be making a special trip to the beach to help us out.  He'll be bringing his beach attire.  You can go ahead and call any time to schedule one or both of the sessions.

The Studio Gardens are Waiting for You

We've just spent the last few weekends working in the studio gardens.  We've planted flowers, cleaned up dead leaves, and freshened up everything.  We're ready to take you out there for a portrait.

Many times, we start a portrait session inside the studio and then move outside into the gardens for some photographs too.  This is especially true for our high school seniors.  They like a few formal images, but the casual outdoor shots seem to be where they can let their personality shine through.

Parents often times want an environmental portrait in the backyard as opposed to a formal studio portrait.  That's why we work so hard and take pride in our studio gardens.

Getting Ready for Beach Portraits

This coming week, we will be at the beach for our first photographic session of the season.  The sunset on a Spring evening is so beautiful.  The weather is comfortable.  It's just a great time to do a beach portrait.

By the way, we offer a complimentary beach session for high school seniors in addition to the session we do at our studio.  So, a high school senior can have a studio session, a session in our backyard studio gardens, and a session at the beach.  We have so much fun with our Seniors. They're excited about their upcoming senior year and it really shows in their portraits.

I think this weekend will be a great beach weekend for everyone.  The weather is supposed to be very nice.

Cold Again

This beautiful Spring weather, along with all the flowers blooming and trees turning green, is short-lived according to the latest forecast.  We are re-arranging some of our outdoor portraits this week because of the forecast.

One little guy, in particular, will be rescheduled.  He will be wearing denim overalls with no shirt.  Since he will be in the backyard garden with his little trractor, we need a little bit warmer weather for that portrait.

The flowers at the studio are blooming and the leaves are filling in nicely in the backyard gardens.  Appointments are already filling up for Spring.  Give us a call to schedule your outdoor portrait.  We'd love to photograph your child(ren) and/or family.  Bring your pet too.  They are part of the family.

Azalea Festival

This weekend marks a big event for Wilmington, NC.  It's the Azalea Festival.  People come from all over the state, and probably the US, for a weekend of concerts, garden parties and tours, a parade, a street fair, and much more.

One of the traditions of this festival is that young ladies are chosen to be Azalea Belles.  They appear at various events throughout the weekend.  We got a little preview of the festival this year because some of the Azalea Belles came in to have their portraits done in their beautiful dresses.  We were able to photograph them in our studio gardens.

I also had the proud honor of photographing the Azalea Princess, Zelle Brown.  She is such a nice young lady and will represent our city well.

Enjoy the weekend.  If you are in Wilmington, we're praying for beautiful weather for all the Azalea Festival events.
